The Karen Blixen Camp offers an authentic yesteryear experience for visitors wishing to gain that little extra from their safari. When you are at Karen Blixen Camp you have the feel of the 1920’s and the great era of Karen Blixen-the vintage Africa. This is the perfect place to sit back and relax with a gin and tonic. The location of Karen Blixen Camp allows guests to experience wildlife from a prime position.

Accommodation

The camp has 22 large tents set on large mahogany platforms each with a spacious veranda complete with a cushion daybed for relaxation. Each tent is ensuite and has a bathroom with flush toilet, twin wash hand basins and an outside shower with looks to the sky. All the tents have solid, comfortable furniture giving you the ultimate in camping luxury. 19 tents are placed along the riverbank whilst 3 are on raised platforms offering incredible views of the surrounding area. There is a family tent that comprises of 2 tents with a shared veranda and located along the river.

Responsible Tourism

1. Karen Blixen Camp have electricity 24hrs which is provided by extended solar panel system and battery storing bank
2. Karen Blixen Camp protects 3,400 acres of natural wildlife area as a private concession
3. Karen Blixen Camp leases land from the maasai and in turn the pay a fixed bed night fee for every guest who stays at the camp
4. They support locally produced goods and use local suppliers for the camps’ needs.
5. Karen Blixen is in the process of establishing a cooking school for the maasai youth
