ITINERARY DETAILS

Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and second highest mountain in Africa. It is a hotspot for climbing and hiking. The mountain is located in Mountain Kenya National Park. The highest peaks of the mountain are Batian (5199metres), Nelion (5188 metres) and Lenana (4985 metres). Some attractions at Mt.Kenya are pristine wilderness, lakes, tarns, glaciers and peaks of great beauty, mineral springs and wildlife of which are endangered and rare and those that have adapted to the high altitude. This is by far the most spectacular and beautiful route on Mt.Kenya in which you ascend from Naromoru and descend through Chogoria.

Day 1 - Nairobi-Nanyuki-Mt.kenya

We leave Nairobi at 0600 Hrs for Naromoru

We arrive at Naromoru at 10.30am where we shall have lunch

At 1130 hrs we shall depart for the Naromoru park gate.

Our Mountain trek starts from this point after a few formalities at the Gate, an easy trek in the afternoon to help acclimatization. Overnight will be at Met Station (3300m) in the high altitude mountain cabins. By the end of the day we will have done 4 hours of walking.

Day 2 - Mt.kenya

After breakfast, trek to Makinders through Teleki Valley. We will be accommodated at the Makinders Bandas for overnight. Lunch is served on the way. Trekking time 8 hours.

Day 3 - Mt.Kenya

The day starts at 00200 Hrs

We start early so that we can reach the Peak at Sunrise

Alpine ascent to the highest peak, Pt. Lenana (4985m). Four hours of stiff walking to the summit. This will be the most challenging bit of the Mt Trek and will require a strong mind to reach the summit. At about 0730 Hrs we shall start the descend to Shiptons Camp where we shall have an overnight stay. The decent shall take 2 Hours.

Day 4 - Mt.kenya

After break fast we leave Shiptons Camp for Meru lodge Banda’s where we shall be accommodated for the night. We shall have trekked for 4 hours.

Day 5 - Mt.kenya-Nairobi

Descend down through the Chogoria route. Taken to Nairobi to your hotel or airport
