Tsavo West national park is the famous of the two tsavo national park. It receives more visitors than the other parks in the area. It has the Tsavo River which attracts wildlife to the area. It is known as the land of lavas, springs and man eaters.
The park is located on the southern eastern part of Kenya. The savannah ecosystem comprises of open grasslands, scrublands, and Acacia woodlands, belts of riverine vegetation and rocky ridges. It is about 9,065km2. It holds a wide range of habitats, wildlife and young mountain scenery unique in Kenya, spectacular showcase of recent geological activities. The vast expanse of savannah is a vibrant volcanic arena painted by green hills, lava flows, springs and large permanent rivers.

How to Get There
By Road: It is 240km from Nairobi
By Air: There are 3 airstrips in the park
Climate
Temperatures range from 20 degrees -30 degrees with rainfall of 200mm-700mm per year. There are 2 rainy seasons. The long rains during March and April and the short rains during November and December.
